One owner from new and meticulously maintained this yacht is an absolute dream for those looking for traditional sailing in a yacht that retains its class, its quality and its capability for really serious passage making

The Barbican 33 was designed essentially as an easily handled fast cruising yacht of shallow draught; the design has been developed from a long line of moderate draught cruising yachts, many of which have made long ocean passages around the world. Her deck and accomodation layout makes her a excellent and safe yacht for those whose aims are for blue water cruising... she is therefore capable of transatlantic and other ocean voyages while equally at home exploring estuaries and shallow creeks. Her gear is arranged for single handed sailing and she is designed to recover herself should she ever be laid over by a breaking sea, in short she will get back on her feet from a complete knock-down. She is splendidly close winded with the plate down and this ability to claw to windward under sail without help from the engine makes the Barbican 33 a hundred percent sailing yacht..

A well proven ocean-going yacht with a lifting centre-plate providing for shoal draft when needed.

"Shumara" has been sailed more than 29,000 miles in 28 years by her present owners since she was built , she has been a visitor to so many of the channel ports as well as ports further afield. Her comforts include a cosy Taylor diesel heater with flue, pressurised hot and cold water, her equipment and instrumentation well up to purpose. See Inventory for details.
